Customer purchase item out of stock

I have occaionally customers were able to purchase items which were out of stock for a few month, it is strange that according to the record the quantity was reduce from 1->0 which mean the quantity was change back to 1 for some reason. Is that any log plugin that i can trace up the inventory record?
