You just need to create a custom link in your menu and then put your sub-categories under that. In your custom link, type a "#" pound/hash symbol as the link.

I figured it out! Add this to your functions.php file in your theme: remove_action( 'woocommerce_before_shop_loop', 'woocommerce_catalog_ordering', 30 ); that should do the trick :)
